Local History

The local history collections largely date from the 1960s when the town was being transformed. Cotton and other industries were disappearing fast as was much of the town.

The Museum of Local History was opened to reflect the trades, industry and people which were important in the 19th and 20th centuries.

There is an old Burnley room in the Hall and we have regular changing displays.

The collections are wide ranging including industry, sport, home life, shops, military items as well as ephemera and photographs.
